
Shakhov Boris Evgenievich was born on June 24, 1950 in Makariev, Kostroma region.
In 1967 he entered the medical faculty of the Gorky medical Institute named after S. M. Kirov, after which in 1973 he was recommended for the position of radiologist in the 5th city clinical hospital.
In 1975 he was trained at the Institute of cardiovascular surgery. Bakuleva in Moscow and in 1978 headed one of the first in the country departments of x-ray surgery, which opened on the basis of the Gorky cardiac surgery center.
He defended his thesis "the state of the coronary bed in patients with heart aneurysm" at the Research Institute of cardiovascular surgery in 1979.
He defended his doctoral dissertation "x-ray Diagnostics of complex congenital heart defects" in 1988 at the Research Institute of medical radiology of the Academy of medical Sciences of the USSR in Obninsk.
At the same time he became Vice-rector for research.
In 1989 he headed the Department of radiology of the faculty of advanced medical training, in 1991 he was awarded the title of Professor. Elected rector in February 2007.
One of the founders of a new scientific direction in Russia - interventional cardiology.
Other activities: roentgenoradiology, roentgenoradiology, rentgenology. He created the Nizhny Novgorod scientific school of x-ray surgeons. Author of nine inventions, more than 170 published scientific works, including 10 monographs and nine manuals.
Under his leadership, he defended 12 doctoral and 18 master's theses.
