Anatoly N. Mikhaylov

Born in 03.11.1936 in a village Indicava Vitebsk district, Vitebsk region. In 1955 he graduated from the 29th school of Vitebsk with a gold medal. From 1955 to 1961 he studied at the Vitebsk medical Institute.
His career began in the Ivanovo region of the Brest region, where he worked in 1961-1962 as Deputy chief physician, then epidemiologist of the Berezovsky district hospital (1962). Radiologist of the Department hospital of Gomel station (1962-1966); post-graduate student of the Department of radiology of the Belarusian state Institute of advanced medical education (1966-1969); assistant of the Department of radiology of the Belarusian state Institute of advanced medical education (1969-1971); associate Professor of the Department of radiology of the Belarusian state Institute of advanced medical education (1971-1977);  head of the Department of radiology, now radiology (1977 to present).

In 1969 he defended his thesis on the topic: "Tonic and emptying function of the colon in the early postoperative period"; "x-Ray characteristics of intestinal dysfunction in the experiment and the colon in humans in the early period after various surgical interventions and its correction" - the theme of his doctoral dissertation, which he successfully defended in 1974 at the Moscow research Institute of x-ray radiology in two specialties:

14.00.19 – medical radiology and radiology

14.00.27 – surgery.

Persistently and thoroughly studied. Mikhaylov functional disorders of the intestine, together with colleagues established the causes and mechanism of their development, proposed methods of treatment. He owns the technique of predicting the patient's condition in the first days after abdominal operations.

Head, Department of radiodiagnosis A. N. Mikhaylov is a famous scientist who made significant contributions to the development of medical science and enriched it by works of the paramount scientific importance. His research covers a wide range of problems in cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, osteology, angiology, urology and other areas of medicine. For a series of works on the cardiovascular system and their implementation in practice, he was awarded the title of "Laureate of the state prize of the Republic of Belarus" (1992).

For 45 years of scientific activity he published more than 600 scientific works, including 40 monographs, received 40 author's certificates for inventions and more than 120 certificates for rationalization proposals. 65 clinical residents and 47 postgraduate students were trained, 40 of them became candidates, doctors of medical Sciences.

The apotheosis of his scientific career is the development of computer diagnostic systems, modern tools and new technologies of medical imaging, which enriched science with works of great scientific importance. In 1995 Anatoly Mikhaylov was elected an academician of the Belarusian engineering Academy, and in 1996 — a corresponding member, and in 2003-an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. In December 1999, he was elected an academician of the international Slavic Academy of Sciences, education, arts and culture.

The Board of Directors of The American biographical Institute (Carolina) elected him an Honorary member of the Board. The Belarusian medical scientist is among the 500 world leaders "as the most outstanding scientist and public figure, whose professional achievements in the XX century will serve future generations".

In September 1998 Professor A. N. Mikhaylov, Cambridge (England) awarded the medal "gold Star" for outstanding contribution to science and teaching, is an international expert on diagnostic radiology.

In 2005, the Board of governors of the Biographical Institute (USA) recognized the academician Mikhaylova "the great thinker of the XXI century" for significant achievements and skills in medical imaging (diagnostic radiology).

A. N. Mikhaylov was awarded the badge "excellent health care", medal "Veteran of labour", Honorary diplomas of the Minister of health and Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus.
