All labor and social activity of M. K. Mikhaylov since 1964 is connected with the Kazan guide (nowadays Kazan state medical Academy). Mikhaylov was one of the first in the world to develop radiation diagnosis of birth injuries of the spine and spinal cord in children. He proposed a classification of such injuries, written monographs, manuals, which are the only ones on this topic. The issues of radiation diagnosis of birth injuries of the spine and spinal cord in children are included in the unified program for the training of radiologists and pediatric neurologists. M. K. Mikhaylov created the school of perinatal neuroethology. On his initiative in June, organized by the Kazan scientific, educational, production Association (NAPO) "Birth trauma" for the implementation of the comprehensive program and training of highly qualified specialists, which he has headed since 1988.

At the Department there are cycles of advanced training of radiologists lasting one month and two months, as well as cycles of professional retraining of specialists in radiology lasting four months. Mikhaylov is a regular participant of international congresses (Austria, Vienna since 2003 annually), congresses in Russia, as a rule, a speaker (2000, 2007, 2013, 2015, 2016). In the Republic of Tatarstan for 15 years under the motto "day of the roentgenologist" under his leadership annual scientific and practical conferences with discussion of actual scientific and organizational questions are held. In recent years (2015, 2016) video conferences with the involvement of highly qualified teachers not only from Kazan, but also from St. Petersburg, Moscow and other cities are widely used. Actively conducted scientific and practical activities. Mikhaylov gives lectures, conducts seminars, advises patients with complex clinical diagnoses. During the consultation and guidance of the head of the Department performed 25 doctoral and 58 master's theses not only in radiology, but also in other medical specialties. Mikhaylov is the author and co-author of 500 printed works, 40 monographs, manuals, textbooks. Trained at the Department of highly qualified specialists-doctors and candidates of medical Sciences headed the independent Department of the Kazan state medical Academy – the Department of cardiology, endovascular and cardiovascular surgery Department, ultrasound diagnostics.
Mikhaylov's students work not only in Kazan, but also in other cities of the Russian Federation. In the first Moscow state medical University named after I. M. Sechenov, his student works as a Professor of the Department of roentgenology at Cheboksary state University. I. N. Currently Mikhaylov is the President of the Association of radiologists of the Republic of Tatarstan (since 1980), a member of the Presidium of the Association of roentgenologists and radiologists of the Russian Federation, a member of the subject Commission of the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation, a member of the certification and public Commission of the Ministry of health of the Republic of Tatarstan. Mars Mikhaylov has an industry award "excellence in health of the USSR" (1978), repeatedly awarded diplomas of the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation (1998, 2008). Mikhaylov is twice laureate of The state prize in science and technology.
