Valery N. Kornienko

Valery Kornienko was born on October 18, 1936

In 1959 he graduated from the Medical faculty of Rostov-on-don medical Institute.

From 1959 to 1962 he worked as a traumatologist and then as a neurosurgeon in Murmansk regional hospital. Since 1979 he has headed the Department of x-ray surgical methods of diagnosis and treatment at the research Institute of neurosurgery named after academician N. N. Burdenko.

Corresponding member since 2000, academician of the Russian Academy of medical Sciences since 2005, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2013 - Department of medical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Specialist in the field of x-ray surgical diagnostic methods.

Directions of scientific activity: problems of neuroethology, neuro-Oncology, traumatic brain injury, organizations neuroethological help. Valery Kornienko first developed and introduced into clinical practice a fundamentally new method in the study of physiology and pathophysiology of cerebral circulation - functional cerebral angiography, improved the method of catheterization angiography. Pioneer in the implementation and comprehensive study of high-tech diagnostic methods such as CT and MRI in neurosurgical practice.

Author of over 450 scientific publications, including 11 books, 4 patents.

Under his leadership, more than 40 candidate and 3 doctoral theses were defended.

Member of the editorial boards of three Russian medical journals.

A member of two scientific societies of the United States: the Neuroradiology and pediatric Neuroradiology.

He was awarded the order of Honor And the medal of merit for the Fatherland of the II degree.

Laureate of the State prize of the Russian Federation and the RF Government prize.
