Personal Statement

My academic and clinical interest is mainly focused on breast radiology and intervention, including minimally invasive therapy as well as assessment of 4D blood flow and tissue characterization by cardiac MRI. Committed to promoting clinical excellence, education and research I have organised more than 60 courses and congresses on national and international level. Being privileged to gain experience through multiple leadership roles in Austria, Europe and Asia, currently as the chairman of the department of radiology at the Medical University of Graz, I have a deep understanding of the challenges facing the modern-day radiologist. Playing a pivotal role in modern patient care, I see radiology as a valuebased and patient-centered clinical specialty. My longtime work for the ESR to date, especially in the Executive Council, gave me the chance to appreciate radiology at multiple further levels and helped me to grow as a radiologist and as a person. I would consider it a great honour to serve the ESR and its members in the role of the 2nd Vice-President.
